Steps towards the Final Outcome

........I thought "Rust Dyeing" to be the best technique for depicting my theme of 'contamination'......
I tried the technique on cotton, organza, gorgette and silk. The desired outcome was achieved with organza and gorgette.
Pure organza responded well to the rust. The colour of the fabric changed...some places were darker and some places almost looked bleached...

So i have decided to use mainly organza for this project and i am also keeping my option open for gorgette...In fact, i am prefering organza because i feel the material itself is symbolic of my view about the cancer cells to be the 'fragile beauty'.....

Now for the product, initially i thought of something which will involve light - so that i could use the property of organza to be transparent. When layered and held against light,it does produce an interesting effect.

But since it is about the contamination of the body,so the option of making any form of garment becomes symbolic here..
I thought of skirts but then i started thinking in the lines of 'HOSPITAL GOWNS'....
But why hospital gowns???? It is for the obvious reason that here my inspiration is related to desease and i donot want to give away the idea by just making skirts or dresses...i am thinking of taking some aspects of a hospital gown but may be in subtle way...
I am thinking of keeping the garment tranparent(without any lining).....
